My books: Sunu-Sunu Snail - Storm in the Garden

Sunu-sunu the snail and his friends, the ants play in the garden when they are startled by an approaching storm. Sunu-sunu hurries home to his mother lest she worries. He relates what happened - the lightning, the thunder, wind and rain from his own perspective. The author, Sandhya Rao, has used unique 'sound-words' that increase the fun, mood and drama.

My pictures dance to the rhythm of the text, creating a harmonious invitation to the story. The media I employed were watercolours, pencils and a bit of fun!

There's a little element I added to the cover design to make the book more fun. If you stand the book with covers folded in as shown in the photo, you get an almost three-dimensional corner of the wall the snail travels along. I remembered how I used to not just read, but also play with my books, and wanted to add a bonus to readers who do that.

You can use the book as a garden corner backdrop when playing with toys. Have fun, readers!
