Himalayan Black Bear
When we arrived at the enclosure for the Himalayan Black Bear, the male was having a nap, like all hubbies while his better half was foraging for something, I don't know what. Actually we didn't notice the bear of the house at first; we thought there was only one. Look at the last two pictures; that was how he was having a nap, one foot on the pole, and shamelessly flashing his....Where was I? Ah, yes, the rest of you look at the close-up, while I talk to the kids.
Then we saw the sign. The painter who did the 'Swamp Dear' one has extended his endearments to the ursan family as well. So now they are Himalayan Black DEARS! And a well-meaning Vandal has tried to correct it!
Sure they are dear bears, aren't they?
Wild Ass or Onager
I hope that 'wild ass' will get me lots of views from drooling people, hehe! The Onager was let fairly loose though separated from us by a wide ditch. He was happily feeding on grass while we approached him. He is the size of a horse, though a donkey. And well built, too, dig those muscles! There's lots of grass in the zoo, so he's cheap to keep.
